I've registered on the Electoral Roll, when will this show on my credit report?

We expect to see new Electoral Roll registrations on a credit report anywhere between one and three months from the date of publication.

Here's a typical process flow of what's happening behind the scenes when you register:

  • Your Local Electoral Registration Office (ERO) receives your application to be added to the Electoral Roll.

  • The ERO accepts your application if you’re eligible.

  • The ERO publishes the Electoral Roll listing as part of the rolling register.

  • The credit reference agencies receive the Electoral Roll data and add it to their databases.

  • The Electoral Roll listing will be returned in the ‘Addresses & Electoral Roll’ section of your Checkmyfile report.

If you've only recently registered on the Electoral Roll, we suggest waiting a month and then checking your report to see if your listing shows. If it doesn't, let us know and we can take a look for you.

Why is my Electoral Roll listing not showing?

If you were expecting to see an Electoral Roll listing on your credit report but don't, here are a couple of things worth checking:

The date your listing was published

It usually takes at least one month for the credit reference agencies to be made aware of a new or updated Electoral Roll listing. For example, if your listing was published on 1 January, the earliest you could expect to see it on your credit report would be 1 February, but it could take until 1 April to show at the extreme.

The name format registered

Check that the name format you've given to Checkmyfile matches how your Electoral Roll listing is held. Any abbreviated or varying name formats can affect whether or not your Electoral Roll listing is matched on your credit report.

The address format registered

Check that the address format you’ve given to Checkmyfile matches the format held by your local council. If a building name is missing or a flat number is omitted, this can affect whether your Electoral Roll listing is matched.

You can check the 'Details' section of your Checkmyfile account to be sure that we hold your information exactly as registered with your local authority.
