Why have I dropped off the Electoral Roll during the annual canvass?

This can sometimes happen at this time of year while the credit reference agencies update their databases with the annual canvass information.

While the agencies wait to receive your Electoral Roll information for the following year, your listing may temporarily show an end date. This is the information that lenders will have access to if they run a credit check in your details.

Most local authorities will publish their canvass data on 1 December. The credit reference agencies then purchase that information from your council. The agencies won’t accept any manual updates to your Electoral Roll details during this period, so all you can really do is wait.

With the amount of information to process, it can take a month or two for your Electoral Roll details to sort themselves out. But this will happen automatically, so you don’t need to do anything else.

As soon as the annual canvass has been completed, you’ll be able to check that your Electoral Roll information shows correctly on your Checkmyfile report.
