Enquiry search

An enquiry search is a soft search of your credit report. They could be checks by landlords or employers, when you get a quote for a credit product, or use a comparison website for example. Enquiry searches show on your credit report but are not the ‘hard’ searches that happen during a credit application. Most enquiries stay on your report for 1-2 years. Enquiries from debt collectors can stay on your report for 6 years.
